REPORT ON NEWSPAPER ARTICLE ‘SHE’S FROM A TOP SCHOOL, HE’S NOT.’
There is a case of discrimination in this article. To me, discrimination is a rigid and biased way of looking at a certain subject. People think that the relationship between the students from top and neighbourhood schools will not work out as they come from different backgrounds and have different places in society. This is discrimination because people are prejudiced against the students in neighbourhood schools, thinking that they do not fit and they are just trying to improve their social status. In general, discrimination consists of many factors. They are prejudiced against a certain perspective, deeming theirs to be always correct and proud of it. If people prove them otherwise, they will still stick to their point unwilling to let others take away their sense of pride. When something of a certain brand doesn’t work, you stereotype that everything made by that brand to be lousy. People also marginalize those who they deem to be inferior and alienate them, for example, the single unwed mothers who got pregnant before marriage. People look down of them and think of them to be women with no self-discipline and leave them out, making them feel unwanted.I think that in the article, all the forces are present. RJCdude is proud that he is in a top school and thinks that students from neighbourhood secondary schools are not fit to date the students in top schools and they are just trying to climb the social ladder. He is prejudiced against the neighbourhood school students and thinks that the relationship will not work out as they both come from different backgrounds. It is mentioned in the article that many people stereotype that the students from humble backgrounds cannot excel in studies and can’t do well in society. They also alienate the students from neighbourhood schools making them look unimportant in society and cause them to feel left out and also make them feel as if they were unfit to date the students in top schools. A way to minimize discrimination is to get people to see the other side of the situation. We could also raise their awareness of the situation by providing them with other information regarding the matter for example: people’s perspectives of the situation. This allows them to see the picture as a whole, with a wider view. It also allows them to process their thoughts and reflect hence raising their awareness on the issue and allowing them to make a better conclusion.

10) Something got into my eye.
9) They told me at the blood bank that this might happen.
8) I'm actually doing a Stress Level Elimination Exercise Plan (read: sleep).
7) I'm sorry, but this is one of the seven habits of highly effective people.6) I was just testing if the school tables were drool-resistant.
5) I was doing a specific yoga exercise to relieve school-related stress. Do you discrimate against people who practise yoga?

3) The Z Monster challenged me to a fight, and if i refused it swore to zap all my brain power.
2) I was reading my notes. It must have been parallex error, sir.
